Randomly generated levels have unique layouts, interesting events, and unpredictable challenges. There’s more to Backpack Hero than just organizing your backpack. You explore ancient dungeons, caves, swamps, and more! Don’t get lost! When you aren’t putting your life in danger, you will use the resources you have gathered to upgrade your town! By organizing the perfect town, you will restore the world of Orderia and rescue the animals who live there! Your progress in the overworld unlocks new content but it won’t give you any unfair advantages on a trip into the dungeons.

If you’re one of those weirdos like me who thought that one of the best aspects of resident evil was the grid based inventory, boy do I have good news for you! Backpack Hero is, as far as I know, a very unique game that not only makes inventory management interesting and important, but makes it the core part of the combat experience. Every item has the potential of interacting with almost everything else, given the right placement and effects. Gone are the days of equipping a suit of armor and wielding a sword to fight your monsters. On my last run, I just used 5 spiked helmets. and a brick. Surprisingly effective! for a while, at least. The different characters change things up a TON, with Tote (the frog character) REALLY shaking things up and adding MAD depth and possibilities, which adds a ton to the already huge replay value of the game. And the game knows how to punish you hard for going toward one strategy with wild abandon, so even if you become CRAZY OP there’s a good change you can still get bonked for not covering your bases.
